Superior School District, Superior Police Address Threat Against Middle School
Officials with the Superior School District responded via social media to a threat that had been circulating on social media on Sunday. The message from the district's Facebook page acknowledged that there was a threat making the rounds on social media targeted at the Superior Middle School, and that officials with the middle school, in conjunction with the Superior Police Department, responded to the threat and now call it "resolved".
The post from the district Facebook page goes on to explain that "Superior Middle School is safe and will run on a regular schedule tomorrow, Monday, January 13, 2020."
The Superior Police Department also responded, calling the threat "not credible", saying there is no danger to students.
In an additional release to the media, the Superior Police had the following to say (via FOX 21): "While the content of the six second video post was shocking and alarming, it was ultimately determined that the threat was NOT credible. Those responsible have been identified by the police. No further comment will be made about those involved at this time."
WDIO reports that while there is no apparent threat and those involved have been identified, there will be an "extra patrol will be dedicated to the schools as a precautionary measure, however, they don't believe that there is any ongoing threat."
