Fall may be fast approaching, but the projects that lead to road closures, which we see an abundance of each summer, are still happening across the Northland.

In Duluth, for example, a section of E Superior Street between 10th Avenue E and 12th Avenue E was recently closed in order to allow a Duluth Steam contractor to make repairs to the Duluth Steam system.

On Monday, the Douglas County Wisconsin Highway Department utilized their official Facebook page to alert motorists of a temporary road closure that will impact an area of Superior next week.

According to their post, County Road A will be be closed from County Road Z to Hammond Avenue. Specifically, the closure will begin 700 feet north of County Road Z to Hammond Avenue.

This temporary closure, which is needed in order to allow necessary railroad crossing repairs to be completed, is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, and continue until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes during this time. Anyone with specific questions is encouraged to call 715-374-2575.

As as always the case around any road projects in the Northland, please drive with an abundance of caution and patience when approaching work zones. Also, if you know someone who tends to drives in an area affected by a closure, be sure to spread the word.

City crews are out in and exposed to traffic on projects such as this and they count on motorists to take that into consideration. Please be sure to watch closely for workers on the road and any detour or other signage that may be present.
