Only about two years after opening in the Maurice's Building on Superior Street, Pita Pit has closed their only Twin Ports location. FOX 21 reported Thursday that the store space on street level is dark, and calls to the business owner were not returned.

The restaurant, which opened in late 2016, offered a fast food option to Downtown Duluth with an emphasis on healthier food options and fresh ingredients. Business North reports that a building official with Maurice's said the restaurant's last day of business was Friday, March 22.

There is no indication as to why the store closed.

Pita Pit has removed the Duluth location from their website, leaving only one listed Minnesota location remaining in the state (Mankato) on their online locations map. The next closest location to the Twin Ports listed on their website is in Hudson, Wisconsin.
