An earlier recall of frozen chicken strip products by Tyson Foods has been expanded.  The original recall notice back in March suggested a little over 69,000 pounds of contaminated product; with the expansion, now nearly 12-million pounds are part of the effort.

The updated notice from the United States Department of Agriculture shows that the concern is still with extraneous materials found in the chicken strip products - specifically pieces of metal.  Tyson frozen products included in the recall now have manufacturing dates between October 1, 2018 and March 8, 2019 - with “Use By Dates” of Oct. 1, 2019 through March 7, 2020.  The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-7221” on the back of the product package.

Initially there were two confirmed complaints of metal pieces in the frozen chicken strips.  That number has now been expanded to six complaints during this time frame involving similar pieces of metal with three alleging oral injury.
