Well, it wasn’t four WCHA points, but close.

The UMD Men’s hockey team scored 11 goals on the weekend and beat and tied Michigan Tech over the weekend in Houghton, MI.

UMD won 7-3 on Friday and tied 4-4 on Saturday as the Bulldogs had the lead late and the Huskies scored in the final minute to tie the game.

The Bulldogs now have a 7 game unbeaten streak in Houghton and return home to face Bemidji State this weekend at Amsoil Arena.

Head Coach Scott Sandelin, overall was pleased with the weekend, but wants to see his team close out a weekend sweep, something they haven’t done this year, “Absolutely that is one thing that this team still has to do is learn that if we have a 2-1 lead or a 1 or 2 goal lead like we did going into the third period on Saturday and through the third period we have to close those games out. Unfortunately we didn’t, but I like how our guys responded in overtime I don’t think they (Michigan Tech) had the puck much and we had five shots and their goalie was forced to make two or three saves so our guys didn’t hang their head they tried to win a hockey game. We got a point, making it a good weekend, not a great weekend.”
