G.I. Jobs Magazine will be soon publishing the list of 2021-2022 Military Friendly Schools, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior will once again be on the list. The List highlights schools that help military members receive higher educations by compiling a list of factors. The University of Wisconsin Superior has been the designated military friendly college in the Twin Ports for the last 12 years.

G.I. Jobs Magazine highlights the fact that UWS is dedicated to helping military members and veterans in their college success and also assists in transitioning to higher education. Beyond the transition to college, UWS also has a veteran center on campus. Veterans can study and utilize resources to help answer questions about campus and community support.

UWS Senior Diversity Officer Kat Werchouski says that the Military Friendly Bronze School recognition shows how hard they work for the success of their student veterans,

“Our campus initiatives continue to focus on the success of our veterans – many of whom have recently returned from active duty to begin their academics. It’s our goal to ensure the transition from the military to not only college but also civilian life is as natural as possible.”

The University of Wisconsin-Superior is one of 747 school to earn the Military Friendly School Designation. Over 1200 schools applied for the honor.

Factors that determined a schools recognition included input from an advisory board, statistics for student retention, graduation, job placement, persistence, loan repayment, and loan defaults for all students, and specifically veterans.

The list of all the schools including UWS will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine.
