The Vikings defense and special teams are a little deeper following the announcement that former Dolphins linebacker Marvin Mitchell has been signed. Mitchell will enter his sixth season in the NFL with the Vikings after spending the 2011 season in Miami. Prior to serving on the Dolphins defense, Mitchell played four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, who picked him up in the 7th round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

During his five seasons in the NFL, Mitchell has logged 119 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 interception. The expectation is that he will provide depth for the Vikings linebacker core and offer help on the special teams squad.
