With the loss of Sidney Rice, the Vikings offense is coming up short on game-changers to help shoulder the receiving load with Percy Harvin. Vikings staff say they feel this is is Bernard Berrian's year to come through (see story at Vikings.com), but if the past two seasons are any hint as to what to expect - further assistance is needed.

Rumors have swirled that the Purple were one of a few teams with their sights set on Braylon Edwards, but Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reported on Twitter the team is not pursuing Edwards.

ESPN.com is now pegging former San Diego Charger Malcom Floyd as a key target in the most recent set of free agent rumor chatter. The Vikings are among six teams rumored to be interested in Floyd. Although not an explosive #1 receiver, Floyd would still be a decent addition to the squad of targets for Donovan McNabb.

Floyd, who has been in the NFL 6 seasons, has accumulate just over 2,300 yards and 15 touchdowns to date. If signed, he would join a cast of 12 receivers currently on the roster - 6 of which are rookies. Excluding Harvin and Berrian, Floyd's stats and past performance are on par with, if not better than the rest of the current receiving core.
