Wisconsin Extends $100 Incentive For COVID-19 Vaccine

Early success has resulted in an extension of the cash incentive for Wisconsin residents to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has extended the deadline that was set to expire on Labor Day to September 19.  The existing stipulations to qualify for the incentive remain.

Since it was announced on August 23, the cash incentive program has resulted in an increase in vaccine numbers for the state.  According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, "more than 65,000 first doses of the vaccine had been administered in the first 12 days of the incentive program". This number runs parallel to the 55% of the state's eligible population who has received at least one dose of one of the COVID-19 vaccines.

In a statement that came with the announcement, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers detailed the reasons the extension came along:

"We're excited to see so many Wisconsinites across the state rolling up their sleeves to get the COVID-19 vaccine to help protect the health and safety pf themselves and others and claiming their $100 reward.  I'm glad to be able to extend this program to give others the opportunity to take advantage of this great offer, and to do their part to help protect our state and stop the spread of the Delta variant."

With the additional two weeks of the program, state officials hope that the number of vaccinated people continues to rise.

As reported, the original stipulations continue to exist for qualification.  The $100 Visa gift cards are available to anyone 12 years of age and older who receives their first dose of any of the available COVID-19 vaccines - between August 20 and the new deadline of September 19.

Evers had also offered an incentive to Wisconsin State Fair goers - a free cream puff voucher.  During the eleven-day fair, a total of 608 people received their vaccines.
