A Vaccination Clinic Will Be Coming To Douglas County

Officials announced that a COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be coming to Douglas County sometime in the next two months. Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health announced the launch of four more community based vaccination clinics that will be in La Crosse County, Racine County, and Marathon County. The final vaccination clinic will be split between Douglas County and Barron County.

According to the press release all of the locations will be open within the next two months.

Governor Evers says that the first week of the vaccination clinic at Rock County was a success and they are excited to bring more of the community clinics across the states as they work to get vaccine doses available. The clinics have been selected to address gaps in vaccine access in the state. The DHS has researched various factors like population, local health capacity, and availability of vaccines by health providers.

As it stands now, Wisconsin has 1800 vaccine providers, including select Walgreens as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. 178 Walgreens in Wisconsin will be receiving 35,350 doses this week, which is double the number last week.

Beginning on Monday, March 1 residents can register through the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry to find a vaccinator. There still is a limited supply of doses. Different parts of the state are at a different progress level for vaccinations, so it may vary in areas. You can also contact your health provider about vaccination availability.

While the vaccine is arriving and is exciting news, it is still important to practice public health measures. Health officials still ask that you mask up, practice social distancing, and wash hands frequently to slow the spread to protect those who have not yet been vaccinated.
