Grandma’s Marathon All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner On For 2021
One of the most iconic traditions in the Twin Ports is officially on this year, after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Michelina's all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner is officially a go for 2021. The feast takes place the day before Grandma's Marathon. There will be COVID-19 policies in place so that attendees can remain safe while eating their pre-race meal.
The annual feast will take place on Friday, June 18th. It begins at 11 a.m. and continues until about 9 p.m. (Therefore, you can eat a late breakfast or lunch, too. Ha!) Kids four years old or younger eat free, while tickets are $7 dollars for kids ages five through twelve. Adults can purchase a ticket for $14 dollars. You can purchase yours ahead of time here.
Hence the name of the event, those who purchase a ticket will get unlimited spaghetti with marinara sauce, with meatballs if interested. Your meal will also come with a caesar salad, bread and coffee, milk or water. Ice cream and cookies will be available for dessert.
Different from past years, the event will be held in the Lake Superior Ballroom area of the DECC in Duluth. The new room will help management monitor those coming in and out, in turn helping keep the number of attendees under the state guideline.
Other COVID-19 policies will be in place aside from a limited number of attendees. Attendees will need to wear masks when not eating or drinking. Tables will be sanitized between attendees and tables will have five or fewer people sitting at them at any given time.
The event is open to everyone, even those who aren't running a race. This tradition has been in place since 1977 so I am glad to see it is back this year!
Some traditions will not return this year as we continue to navigate the pandemic. Rock The Big Top has been cancelled for the second year in a row. However, the weekend is always a big deal in the Twin Ports and I am glad it is back in some capacity.
By the way, did you see the medals for finishers this year? They are awesome!
