Is This The Most Pothole-Riddled Street In Minnesota? [PHOTOS]
We all know that pothole concerns and unavoidable jokes run year-round in the Northland. Some residents have suffered actual damage to their vehicles, which is no laughing matter, while others simply end up spilling their beverages as one sneaks up on them.
Recently, Jesse Hakala posted a series of pictures on the Real Life in Duluth, MN, and Superior, WI Facebook page that show what may be the worst street in Duluth, if not the entire state of Minnesota.
The pictures were taken and posted on the morning of Saturday, March 11, along with his description:
The INFAMOUS, CODY St.
I heard this street received some patching, and by the looks of it, that is correct. But it’s not much. Maybe the work of some friendly citizens.
I bottomed out in my car going over some of these. Going very slow.
I would certainly hope someone has reported Cody Street to the City of Duluth and they are well aware of the condition of this West Duluth street. Judging by the 10 pictures that Jesse Hakala shared, fixing it should be a priority. Until then, drive with caution there and throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.
From far away, it looks bad but just until you see a closer view of what motorists encounter.
The Duluth Street Maintenance Department is well aware that Northland roads are very difficult to maintain due to the extremes of Minnesota weather, especially the freeze-thaw cycles during winter.
Hard to avoid potholes when they are both in the middle of the street and on each side.
The Duluth Street Maintenance Department offers the option for residents to report a problem online regarding street maintenance.
This new Resident Problem Reporter is a pilot for submitting complaints, which they expect to expand in the future.
It's obvious Cody Street is in horrible condition, what other roads have you encountered that are in tough shape?
One bad spot I encounter every day heading up the hill is on 4th Avenue West in Duluth. As you head up the hill toward Mesaba Avenue, be very careful of a giant pothole in the middle of the street.
The City of Duluth Maintenance Team certainly has their work cut out for them, as I'm sure similar crews do across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Make sure to report roads in bad condition in the City and you're welcome to share photos with us through our app.
