National Website Names University of Minnesota Duluth “Hottest College in the Country” + Other Minnesota Schools Make the List

The Northland is nationally known for many things, most of them related to cold. Many hockey legends grew up here, we regularly make the national news for being one of the coldest places in the country - well, you get the idea. When it comes to hot, we just aren't as notable. Summer days don't get all that sultry and, at least according to stereotype, hot foods scare us too with that whole line about thinking ketchup is spicy. Bucking the trend, UMD has emerged as the hottest of the hot in a new national survey when it comes to college students.

A college dating website called DateMySchool (the self-proclaimed largest college-only dating site in the country) has combed through thousands of users around the country to determine the hottest colleges in the country. Topping one of the lists is our very own University of Minnesota Duluth.

Without getting into the mathematics of it all, the data on "hottest schools" was determined largely by the number of photo/profile views and positive ratings for profiles from schools around the country. These numbers were used to create a "hotness ratio" for ranking schools in a number of categories. Schools were ranked by overall hotness, female hotness, and male hotness; as well as breakdowns by straight and gay hotness. UMD topped the hottest girls list while falling a little further down on the overall hotness scale.

Strangely, no Wisconsin schools appeared on the list. This information also forgets some of the smaller colleges in the region, because it relies on users attending these schools.
