It’s no secret that a lot of heavier bands, especially metal bands, have been overlooked by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though two of the ‘80s flag-bearers – Bon Jovi and Def Leppard – have been inducted the last two years. So how about Motley Crue, who are back in the spotlight this year thanks to The Dirt film and their corresponding new music?

During a chat with Kerrang, Nikki Sixx addressed the question, revealing that a conversation has reportedly been had suggesting that their induction will likely never happen. Sixx was asked about the possibility of playing live again and during his response, the Rock Hall talk came up.

“I was actually doing an interview with Tommy [Lee] a couple of weeks ago, and we were asked if we would ever play together again. And Tommy said, ‘I don’t know. Maybe if we got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or something, we could dust off a couple of our old classics,’” recalled Sixx. “I was, like, ‘Really?’ And he said, ‘Why not?’ But we don’t have any plans because we were told by the Hall of Fame that we would never get in, because of how we’ve acted, so that’s kind of it.”

Motley Crue signed a cessation of touring agreement in 2014 and concluded The Final Tour at the end of 2015. Sixx says no conversations have been had about potentially playing even a one-off show. However, after some time away, the band did get back together to record some new music to accompany The Dirt film release. The movie is out now via Netflix.
