Halloween is almost upon us and that means it is time for one of the best races in the Northland! The North End Nightmare race is returning to Superior this year despite COVID-19.

Registration is officially open for the North End Nightmare. The race will take place on Saturday, October 24th. It costs thirty bucks to take part in the race and each registrant will receive a special full-zip jacket as part of the event. The race will cost 15 bucks for kids six to fourteen years old. It should be noted that the race will only be a two mile track this year amid the pandemic, instead of the usual 5K.

The Spider Dash is also back this year. This portion of the event is for kids 14 and under. Participants walk the track for free and get candy along the way. They will also take home a fun Halloween-themed tote bag.

If you are curious about the course and if it may be appropriate for your young child or teen, you can call event organizers at 218-727-0947 and ask them any questions you may have.

Of course, amid the pandemic, there will be new guidelines in place this year, including the following:

  • There will be 20 different waves each taking off at staggered times throughout the night. Each wave will hold about 50 people to allow for proper social distancing.
  • Face coverings are encouraged during the race and required for packet pick-up.
  • No spectators will be allowed at the race.
  • Everyone will have their temperature taken prior to the event.
  • You can not arrive more than 20 minutes prior to the race.

Due to the pandemic, there will also be a virtual option for the race. Between October 24th and the 31st, you can run the race at the location and time of your choosing. You will receive instructions via email about how to submit your time.

I did the race last year and it was amazing! The course includes haunted ghosts and ghouls, scary props and all things that go bump in the night. It is a super fun race and I am excited they found a way to host it this year. You can register for the event here.
