Some Northland Cities Still Doing 4th of July Fireworks, Watch Responsibly
The 4th of July is already next week, and man is this year going to feel weird. The COVID-19 pandemic has cancelled just about everything for this year's festivities. A lot of cities have cancelled all of their 4th of July activities across the board, but others are going to still have a fireworks display.
The City of Superior is going ahead with their fireworks performance at 10pm on Saturday, July 4th at the Richard I Bong Airport. Our company Townsquare Media in Duluth has actually teamed up with them to broadcast the soundtrack for the fireworks on our sister station KOOL 101.7. We've been talking with city organizers and they wanted us to help spread the word to socially distance during the fireworks display. You're asked to stay in or near your car with your group of people. Just like we've been doing this whole time, avoid other groups of people outside of your household. The annual Dennis Vanelstine car show in Superior is also still on, but in a different format. They are calling it anything with a motor cruise, and they will be driving the cars along a route through town.
Most other cities have cancelled their 4th of July Fireworks for 2020, but I did find one other place that is going forward with it. Eveleth, MN has cancelled all of their 4th of July festivities except for the fireworks. That's a really big deal for Eveleth to be cancelling the 4th of July. The small town of Eveleth really comes alive every year for 4th of July and draws crowds from nearby towns, and brings many people back home every year. While sadly everything else has been cancelled, the fireworks will still go on at 10:15pm on July 3rd. They also ask that you practice all COVID-19 guidelines.
