It's construction season again meaning detours, limited access to certain roads and walkways you're used to using, traffic back-ups, and more leading to general frustration.  What we forget though sometimes is that the outcome will be worth it.

The transformation that Downtown Duluth is undergoing involves the reconstruction of Superior Street.  The project is set to last three seasons which probably means four in construction talk. The project involves improving utilities, making spaces more inviting for the public, and setting up the area for future generations.

The walking tour is guided and gives you information on the project as well as provides some history of Downtown Duluth.  This year's tour spans Superior Street from Lake Avenue to 4th Avenue East.  Meeting for the tour occurs at the Technology Center lobby at 11 East Superior Street, so you should be able to find parking in the ramp.

The tour is free, however space is limited so you need to register in advance.  The next tour is on Monday, July 8th at 4:30PM and you can get registered for it and more information here.
