Before last night's opening round of the Major League Baseball Draft, many analysts had outfielder Byron Buxton of Appling County High School in Georgia pegged as the number 1 overall pick choice. The first overall pick belonged to Houston, but they opted for shortstop Carlos Correa, leaving Buxton for Minnesota.

Buxton stands at 6'2" and 180 pounds, and offers a powerful right-handed bat to the Twins organization. ESPN had the outfielder ranked number 1 on the ESPN 100 prospect list.

The Twins used their second pick and third picks on a pitching prospects Jose Berrios from Puerto Rico and Luke Bard of Georgia Tech.
