Wessman Arena Vaccination Clinic Offering Walk In Appointments
The Wessman Arena has been the location of the community based COVID-19 vaccination clinic. It was established after the Wisconsin Department of Health identified areas that may be underserved in administering vaccines. Now, the clinic is allowing people to walk in and get a vaccine without an appointment starting today.
The site is being run by AMI Expeditionary Healthcare. The clinic's hours are between 11am and 7pm Tuesday through Saturday. Anyone 16 and older can receive a Covid Vaccine. The clinic is currently using the Pfizer Biotech vaccine.
The University of Wisconsin Superior continues to offer free Covid-19 testing at the Marcovich Wellness Center located on campus. Anyone 5 years of age or older can get a free covid-19 test. Registration is available online at Do I Need A Covid Test?
The walk in Covid-19 vaccinations are available as demand for the vaccines has seen somewhat of a decrease. Beginning in December adults age 65 and older and frontline workers were only eligible for the vaccine. The next tiers of groups became eligible in following weeks. On April 23, Essentia and St. Luke's announced walk in appointments as well.
Currently in Douglas county there are 153 cases in the last two weeks of COVID-19. St. Louis County is reporting 690 cases in the last two weeks. In Wisconsin the department of health is reporting that 33.1% of the population is fully vaccinated. 44.6% have received at least one dose of the vaccine. It takes two weeks to fully develop full efficiency after the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna shots.
