While we see a lot of land and property for sale across the Northland, it's generally listed with a Real Estate company or through a for-sale-by-owner scenario. However, those are the only people listing these things for sale.

I was surprised to find out that the Minnesota Department of Transportation also sells land and property, including a property that is currently available in Duluth.

The reminded everyone of this fact through their official Facebook page:

Do you know MnDOT sells land and structures? There are currently three properties for sale by bid and five properties available for immediate purchase.

They also included a link you could follow to get more information and to sign up for related e-mail alerts. I decided to click on through and discovered they are currently selling a Duluth property located on Anderson Road.

To be exact, the property is 0.84 acres of vacant land located at "NE Quad TH53 & Anderson Rd., Duluth, St. Louis County, MN".

MnDOT notes that while some property is sold through a bidding process, they do periodically possess properties that are made available for immediate sale and the Duluth listing falls into that category.

Other properties currently available for immediate sale are located in Brooklyn Park, St. Paul and Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Currently, there are three properties for sale for bid across the state. Bids open on December 21, 2021 for land in Baxter, Minnesota, while bids open on January 11, 2022 for pieces of land in both Clear Lake and Eden Prairie.

Owning land is rarely a bad idea, so it's helpful to know the Minnesota Department of Transportation is yet another resource.
