The Duluth Art Institute has various programs throughout the year that people can participate in regardless of artistic skill level.  Some of the programs have a cost and some are free, the the two day Community Felt Rug Making Class.

Making felt rugs is a lot of work and more people to help out can help ease that workload.  The rug that will be worked on for two days over the weekend will be a gift for the Duluth Public Library and you can help out.

The way it works is, the rug begins at about 8' by 10' with a design, then soapy water is added and together it's walked on with bare feet.  There will be live music as people walk, stomp, sing, kick, and roll the wool into a felt rug.
