Minnesota Police Department Reminds The Public Of City Curfew
When I was growing up in the Twin Ports, we never had any concern with a curfew and were never bothered by the police that I can remember. Though I will say, my group of friends didn't cause that much trouble except maybe being too loud while hanging out.
I was today years old when I found out that the City of Duluth actually has a curfew. I mean, I guess I had heard of people getting a ticket for curfew, but usually thought that was associated with underage drinking and parties being busted. The Duluth Police Department made a post on their Facebook Page yesterday reminding people of the curfew with a link to the statute.
To save you the click on their link here is the City's verbiage as written at the time of posting this:
"No minor under the age of 16 years between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day and no minor, age 16 or 17 years between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the same day shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, wharves, docks or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places; provided, that the provisions of this Section shall not apply to a minor accompanied by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor. Any minor violating the provisions of this Section shall be dealt with in accordance with juvenile court law and procedure;".
I'm not sure if there have been problems lately or what prompted the post, but if you didn't know what they might get you for, now you do.
