Time Again For The Annual UNS Ice Fishing Contest

While I'm not a member myself of United Northern Sportsmen I have been a guest there with friends and participated in several carry classes at their facility on Rice Lake Road and appreciate what they do. They have members who are involved with the Minnesota Conservation Federation, National Shooting Sports Federation, National Rifle Association, DNR Youth Firearms Safety, DNR Advanced Hunter Education, and the UMD Outdoor Program.

Not only is it a place to shoot and learn but they also have an annual ice fishing contest that is a pretty good time. This year's is coming up this Sunday, January, 27th from 1:30PM-3:30PM on Island Lake. Of course fishing is the main point but there will be lots of prizes and it's a family friendly event at the UNS Boat Landing.

This has been rescheduled due to the extreme cold in the Twin Ports to February 17th.
