2019 Operation K-9 Had A Great Community Turnout
Last night was the annual fundraiser put on by the Northland K-9 Foundation at UWS in Superior, WI. In previous years it was held at Amsoil in Superior as Amsoil is a huge supporter but the new location served the event well. I'll apologize in advance for a couple of not so clear pictures, sunlight and only a phone camera were against me.
My brother is with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department and is a K-9 handler, which means I have a hairy nephew named Diesel and they, like most of the other area K-9 teams put on demonstrations for the public to see. The teams executed mock drug searches, suspect apprehension techniques, suspect searches, and various other skills that the K-9 pups have to help keep the Twin Ports communities safe.
To help raise money there was a silent auction with some very nice items from area businesses and there was also merchandise and food available for purchase. Amsoil presented a check for $10,000 which is an incredible help to the organization. It was nice to see such a big turnout for the event and also nice was how many activities they added for the kids this year. From face painting to bouncy houses and law enforcement vehicles to see, it was about the K-9 teams but also a very nice community event all tied together.
