When it comes to summer in the Twin Ports, there is always plenty to do, even with the kiddos who probably aren't in school.

Sometimes though, finding free activities other than going to the beach or to parks can be difficult.  This can be tough financially especially if you have multiple kids.

Thankfully, organizations like the Duluth Climbers Coalition put on both educational and energy burning events that don't have a cost to attend.

Flock to the Rock is one such free event that is family friendly, for all ages, and they emphasize bringing the kiddos to learn some new skills and have fun.  On Saturday, July 22nd from 10AM-3PM, attendees will have no cost access to climbing gear and instruction.

You also don't have to worry about lunch because hotdogs will be provided too.  To also give the non-climbers something to do, the Duluth Parks and Recreation Department will be hanging out with their mountain bikes offering guided rides on those.

Per their website, the Duluth Climbers Coalition works on a mission of " preserving access to Duluth's diverse climbing resources and promoting quality climbing opportunities for enthusiasts of all disciplines".

Flock to the Rock will take place in Duluth at Ely's Peak just off of Becks Road in Duluth.  While there is no pre-registration required, please keep in mind that minors will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate.  What a great event to keep the kiddos active and entertained on a Saturday that won't cost you anything to attend.
