Mobile Market Helps With Food Insecurity In Duluth
Not having enough to eat is still a major struggle for many families. It's not just a third world issue, there are many right in our own community who don't get enough to eat. It's been extra stressful on many in the past year with the global pandemic. It's resulted in people being out of work or having to deal with less hours as a result. Thankfully, there are resources to help.
In order to address food insecurity in Duluth, Community Action Duluth is going to be offering an ongoing Mobile Market to help those in need. It will be in the form of a refrigerated truck, stationed at various locations. It will feature fresh produce, dairy products, canned goods, grains, and more.
To make it easier for those who need the assistance, online pre-ordering will be available HERE. When you order online, your selections will be packaged for you and purchased at the time of pickup. Orders can also be placed over the phone as well, just call 218-726-1665.
The first of these ongoing stops will be on Saturday, February 27th, from Noon-2:00PM at the Duluth Children's Museum. Once the Mobile Market get's through this first soft opening, they will be stationed the first week of every month in the Morgan Park, Lincoln Park, or Harbor Highlands areas. Details on those locations can be found on their pre-order page and the Duluth Children's Museum is located at 115 South 29th Avenue West. It's great news that there will now be more options to help out those in need in the area.
