It was July of 2019 when Season 3 of Stranger Things came out on Netflix, so it had been a while since those of us hooked on the show got a taste.  In May of 2022, we received half of the fourth season comprised of seven episodes.

It took me longer than it should have to get through the first seven episodes but not because I didn't like it, just because of life.  Stranger Things Season 4 thus far is more evil and darker than I remember the first three seasons.  There were creepy parts in the earlier releases but so far 4 is almost like watching a horror movie.

The language might be a smidgen worst too, not that it's bothersome to me, just a little surprising.  I guess I was never sure what the target audience was for the show.  I don't honestly know if they had one in mind as it seems like kids and adults alike seem to enjoy it.  For the adults, probably the nostalgia since it takes place in the early 80s.  For the kids, probably because a good portion of the story centers around other kids and their adventures.

As I mentioned, it's dark and even has a disclaimer at the intro of the season as it was released shortly after the Uvalde Texas shooting, and the opening scene is quite graphic.  The season also includes some acting by horror legend Robert Englund which is cool, especially since it has some Freddy Krueger vibes going on.

If four the best season of the show so far though?  That's tough to say since the second half isn't out yet, but I have a feeling it's gearing up to be the best.  We have to wait until July to find out, which isn't that far away.  I will say in season 4 that it's been cool for them to look deeper into Eleven's past a bit more, further developing the character portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown.

If you haven't jumped on the Stranger Things bandwagon yet, you still have plenty of time to catch up and it sounds like they are confirmed for a fifth and final season as well.  If you are all caught up, what do you think so far?
