Duluth and Superior are hosting a joint watershed cleanup effort this upcoming weekend.  Duluth Mayor Emily Larson and Superior Mayor Jim Paine are inviting volunteers to help pick up litter.  Not only will participating be good for the environment, you can register, submit your litter results, and maybe win prizes.  Think of it too as a good opportunity to get some fresh air exercise before winter creeps in.

The event is open to all ages, so the whole family can participate and work within your social group.  You can also go solo, or set up your own small group for the work.  While it's meant to focus on more beach areas, you can certainly put forth the effort to clean up other areas.  The goal is to help keep debris out of storm drains and having it end up in Lake Superior.

Prizes for this virtual event will include gift cards and physical prizes.  There are items from Thirsty Pagan Brewing, Canal park Brewery, Anchor Bar, Loll Designs, and more.  Keep in mind that you should dress for the weather and wear decent footwear.  Duluth and Superior are requesting that volunteers use their own gloves and also buckets if possible for collecting the trash.  It's slated to take place on Saturday, September 26th.  To register for Duluth, you can do that HERE.  If you are going to be in the Superior area, registration is HERE.
