Like it or not, winter in the Twin Ports usually starts it's ramp down around March, which isn't far away.  Lovers of outdoor winter activities don't have much time left to enjoy those things, especially since it really hasn't been a snowy winter.  We may of course still get a couple of larger blasts, but that snow won't last long.

Besides skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling, a lot of people like to trek out on a pair of snowshoes.  Hitting the trails or blazing your own through the woods is always fun, but have you ever snowshoed on the grounds of a mansion?  The 'Jacket Gold Alumni Chapter of UW-Superior, wants you to join them for some free snowshoeing.

If you make sure to register in advance, the Alumni Association will take care of the $5 Grounds Admission fee on Sunday, February 21st.  It starts at 11:00AM and will be held at Duluth's Historic Glensheen Mansion, located at 3300 London Road.  They do have a limited amount of snowshoes to borrow if you don't have your own, and you can reserve those when you register.

It's a good way to get some fresh air, enjoy the beautiful snowy grounds, and take in the treasure that is the Lake Superior shoreline.  Please keep in mind that even though it's an outdoor event, masks are required because the trail pathways don't allow the six-foot social distance requirements.  You can get more information on this great event and take care of your registration and snowshoe reservation HERE.
